HireVue Reviews: What Buyers and Candidates Say (Nov 2026)

By Qode Product Team · Updated 3 Nov 2026

Cover graphic introducing hirevue reviews. Fact-checked on 2 Nov 2026 against 255 G2 reviews, 51 Capterra reviews and HireVue's current product pages (see Sources).

TLDR

  • HireVue has a 4.1/5 rating from 255 G2 reviews and 4.5/5 from 51 Capterra reviews. Do not combine the scores because the sites use different review sets.
  • Reviewers commonly praise ease of use, flexibility and the ability to support high-volume hiring.
  • The visible concern themes include impersonal one-way interviews, integration issues, audio problems, app glitches and cost.
  • HireVue is broader than its older one-way-video reputation. Its current suite includes a two-way AI Interviewer, assessments and live video.

What do HireVue ratings show?

Review sourceRatingReview countDetails visible on 2 Nov 2026
G24.1/525555% five-star, 32% four-star; 190 enterprise reviewers
Capterra4.5/551Ease of use 4.4; customer service 4.3

The ratings show broad satisfaction, especially among enterprise users. They do not answer whether HireVue fits a particular workflow. G2 groups reviews across video interviewing, assessments, scheduling and AI recruiting, so a team buying the new AI Interviewer should confirm which product each review discusses.

Three steps for interpreting reviews: check the source, read both sides and run a demo.

What do buyers like about HireVue?

G2's visible review summary names video interviewing, scheduling flexibility, time savings, setup ease and hiring efficiency among the positive themes. A validated mid-market reviewer described regular use during high-volume hiring and praised the interface, implementation, support, assessments and ATS connections.

Candidate-facing reviews also mention practice recordings and the ability to complete an interview from home. That flexibility matters for distributed hiring, shift workers and applicants who cannot take a recruiter call during business hours.

The broader product is another reason enterprises choose HireVue. It combines one-way video, live interviewing, assessments and a voice AI Interviewer. A buyer can standardize several stages without assembling separate products.

What complaints appear in HireVue reviews?

G2's current theme list includes integration issues, inefficient recruiting processes, candidate management, audio issues and app glitches. Capterra surfaces a candidate review describing one-way recording as unnatural and anxiety-inducing, with concerns about automated assessment.

The format matters here. A one-way video presents preset questions and records each response. HireVue's newer AI Interviewer runs a two-way voice conversation with follow-up questions. A complaint about talking to a camera does not automatically describe the AI Interviewer, and praise for the assessment suite may not describe the candidate's video experience.

Price also appears as a concern on G2's pricing summary. HireVue's own pricing page does not publish a standard plan amount, so buyers need a quote. Our HireVue pricing guide explains what is public and what must be confirmed.

What do candidates experience?

HireVue's one-way format gives candidates a deadline, a set of prompts and the ability to record without scheduling a live call. That can widen access, but the employer controls think time, retakes and the amount of explanation given before the interview.

The AI Interviewer is different. HireVue says it asks probing follow-up questions in a two-way voice conversation, evaluates responses against role-specific criteria and explains why a response meets them. Recruiters make the final call.

Candidate communication should name the format. Tell people whether they will record preset answers, speak with an AI interviewer or join a person. Greenhouse's 2026 candidate research found that lack of disclosure was a common reason people left AI-assisted hiring processes. See one-way vs two-way interviews for the full distinction.

Who is HireVue best for?

HireVue has the clearest fit for employers that need several of these capabilities together:

  • high-volume video interviewing;
  • technical, game-based or other assessments;
  • structured rating guides and enterprise administration;
  • live video and scheduling;
  • a conversational voice AI interviewer;
  • enterprise security or government procurement requirements.

A smaller team that only needs a deep first conversation may prefer a focused product with public usage pricing. Compare Tracy vs HireVue and best AI interview software before deciding.

What should you test before buying?

Use the same two roles throughout the pilot. Include one role with clear eligibility questions and another where expertise appears only after a follow-up. Then check:

  1. Candidate completion by device and time of day.
  2. Whether the AI Interviewer asks for missing detail instead of accepting a polished first answer.
  3. Whether reviewers can trace scores to the response.
  4. ATS writeback, duplicate records and error recovery.
  5. The time hiring managers spend watching video or correcting summaries.
  6. Notice, consent, accommodation and human-review paths.
