Tracy vs HireVue: AI Interviews Compared (Nov 2026)

By Qode Product Team · Updated 2 Nov 2026

A candidate in a Tracy interview in the browser. Tracy asks a follow-up about the answer he just gave, shown as a live caption.

HireVue is a full hiring suite. Its AI Interviewer holds a two-way voice conversation, scores each answer against a rubric and sends the scores to your ATS. Tracy at Qode interviews on video. It follows up inside each person's own field, flags signs of cheating, and backs every point in its summary with the person's own words, so your team decides from what was said.

Pick HireVue if you want one vendor from application to offer, automatic scores in your ATS, or FedRAMP. Pick Tracy if you want follow-up questions that go deep in each person's field, cheating signals in every interview, a setup built around the process you already run, and no upfront cost.

Who each is for

HireVue is built for large employers that want one platform for the whole hiring process, with validated assessments and a long list of security certifications, including FedRAMP for US government work.

Tracy is built for teams that screen skilled people at volume, where the second and third questions decide: engineers, domain experts, specialists, and founders applying to a program.

Where Tracy is the better pick

Your roles need judgment a checklist can't score. HireVue's own product page shows its example skill rubric scoring an answer from 1 to 5 by how many expected points it mentions. A candidate who has rehearsed, or has an AI feeding them the right words, can hit every point. Tracy asks about what the person just said, such as why they chose that approach or what they would change. Ask a backend engineer to design a rate limiter, and Tracy follows up on concurrency, failure modes and testing, or hands them a coding task and probes the trade-offs. AI technical interviews shows a full example.

Cheating signals come built in. HireVue's AI Interviewer, the part that asks follow-up questions, is voice-based. Its video interviews are one-way recordings or live calls with your own interviewers. HireVue does list a cheating and fraud mitigation offering, and says suspicious AI Interviewer cases can be flagged for human review. Tracy asks its follow-ups on video, and every interview comes with cheating signals for your reviewers to check. Gartner predicts 1 in 4 candidate profiles worldwide could be fake by 2028, and in Greenhouse's 2025 AI in Hiring Report, 39% of US hiring managers said they now run more in-person interviews to confirm candidates are real. How to detect AI cheating in interviews covers the warning signs.

Every point comes with the moment it was said. A 3 out of 5 doesn't show what the person said. In a Tracy summary, each point is the person's own words, linked to that moment in the recording, so a reviewer can confirm a strong answer, or catch a thin one, in one click. AI interview summaries shows the layout.

It fits the process you already run. Bring your own questions or start from a proven interview type, choose the fields your reviewers get back, and send a personal invite or a public link from wherever you already contact people. They join in the browser with no sign-up. Teams get a custom interview set up in days. HireVue is built to run the whole process, from application to offer, on its own platform.

There's no upfront cost. You pay only when an interview produces a result. There are no seats to buy, a session with no answers is never charged, and enterprise teams get pricing set to their volume. HireVue doesn't publish prices; its pricing page asks you to request a demo. The HireVue pricing guide collects what is public.

What a reviewer sees in Tracy

How each tool hands over an interview. HireVue: the candidate answers by voice, the AI scores against a rubric, the score goes to the ATS, and a recruiter decides from scores. Tracy: the person answers on video, gets a summary by field, each point is quoted and linked to the recording, and a reviewer decides from their words.

Here is part of a Tracy summary for a customer support lead role. It is an illustration with test data, not a real candidate.

FieldWhat the candidate said
Handling escalations"Last month a customer threatened to cancel over a billing error. I refunded first and fixed the invoice after, because the refund was the part they cared about."
Team managed"Six agents across two shifts."
Start date"I can start on 1 December."

Click any quote and the recording jumps to that moment. Scoring is optional, and every point stays tied to the answer behind it.

What the reviewer sees afterwards: every answer quoted, with a play button that jumps to that moment in the recording. Scoring is optional; your team decides.

Pricing side by side

HireVue doesn't publish its prices. Its pricing page says the platform is built "from mid-market to enterprise" and offers a demo and an ROI calculator.

Tracy publishes its list price at tracyinterview.ai/pricing: $7 per credit; one credit covers up to 20 minutes. You pay per result, never per seat, and credits never expire. Enterprise teams get pricing set to their volume.

Trying Tracy next to HireVue

You don't have to replace HireVue to try Tracy. Pick one role or one program, run Tracy next to your current first round on the same applicants for two weeks, and compare what your reviewers would have decided. Tell applicants that an AI runs the interview; are AI interviews legal? covers what to disclose.
