Add Tracy at Qode to Gemini
Gemini connects to Tracy at Qode as a custom MCP server, so you can set up an interview and read its results by asking for them in a chat. Google offers this in the Gemini app and in Gemini Enterprise, and each has its own steps.
Server address
Paste this wherever Gemini asks for a server URL. If it asks for a name, use Tracy at Qode.
https://tracyinterview.ai/mcpBefore you start
- Pick the Gemini you use. The Gemini app is for a personal Google Account. Gemini Enterprise is set up for a whole team by an administrator.
- Google's docs for a custom MCP server name only those two. They name no other Gemini surface and no plan that takes one, so this page covers nothing else.
- Tracy at Qode needs you to sign in and approve it, and Gemini opens that sign-in for you.
The Gemini app
Google calls these custom apps. You add one in the Gemini web app, and for now only if all of this is true:
- You are 18 or over and in the US.
- You sign in with a personal Google Account. A work or school Google Account cannot add a custom app yet.
- Keep Activity is on. Custom apps are unavailable when it is off.
- You use Gemini in English, in the Gemini web app at gemini.google.com or the Gemini mobile app. Once added on the web, the custom app is in both.
- On your computer, go to gemini.google.com. Custom apps can only be added in the web app.
- At the bottom, click Settings > Connected Apps. If you do not find Connected Apps, click Personal Intelligence first, then Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps, use the Add a custom app link to get started field, or click Add a custom app if you have one already.
- Paste the server address as the app's MCP server URL.
- Click Next and follow the instructions on screen. When Gemini opens the Tracy at Qode sign-in, finish it there and approve access.
Tracy at Qode supports dynamic client registration, so leave Advanced features alone. Google has you open it only for a server that does not.
Gemini Enterprise
An administrator adds Tracy at Qode for the team. Google lists these limits: Gemini Enterprise reaches a server over Streamable HTTP only, and the server has to be on the public internet at a secure HTTPS address, with a certificate signed by a publicly trusted authority.
Business edition
Google lists this as a Pre-GA offering, which might have limited support.
- Sign in to Gemini Enterprise - Business edition at business.gemini.google and click Settings & help.
- Select your team, then open Manage team > Connected apps.
- Click Add MCP Server. Under MCP info, paste the server address as the Server URL, enter Tracy at Qode as the Name and click Next.
- Under Authentication settings, choose OAuth 2.0 and fill in its fields as described below. Then click Verify Auth and Continue.
- Under Configure your data connector, choose a Location of your data connector from the Multi-region list, enter a Your data connector name and click Add.
- The connection is disabled by default. Enable it to make it visible to your team.
Standard, Plus, Pay-as-you-go and Frontline editions
These use the Google Cloud console. You need the Discovery Engine Editor role, and an organization policy has to allow custom MCP data stores, so an organization policy administrator may need to act first.
Google also has you allow the server, authorization and token hosts as egress domains. Tracy at Qode serves all three from one host, so allow tracyinterview.ai as an egress domain and nothing else. If the project is under VPC Service Controls, also allow custom_mcp among the allowed data sources.
- In the Google Cloud console, open Gemini Enterprise, then click Data stores and Create data store.
- On Select a data source, search for Custom MCP Server and click Add MCP server.
- Under Authentication settings, choose OAuth 2.0, paste the server address as the MCP Server URL and fill in the other fields as described below. Tracy at Qode requires PKCE, so select Enable PKCE Support. Click Verify Auth, then Continue.
- Choose a Multi-region location, enter a Your data connector name and click Create. Wait for the data store to read Active.
- Every action is off at first. Open the data store, click Actions > Reload custom actions, select the Tracy at Qode actions and click Enable actions. Google advises enabling no more than 100 at a time.
The OAuth 2.0 fields
Google has you register Gemini Enterprise as an OAuth client and use this redirect URL:
https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/oauth-redirectPaste these as Authorization URL and Token URL, exactly as shown and with nothing added after them.
https://tracyinterview.ai/oauth/authorizehttps://tracyinterview.ai/oauth/tokenFor Scopes, enter tracy.
Google's forms also ask for a Client ID and a Client Secret. Tracy at Qode registers each app itself and issues no client secret, and Google's docs do not say what the form takes for a server like that. Setup may stop at this step. If it does, write to support rather than guess a value.
Google's own steps are in its guides for the Business edition and for the other editions, and the Gemini app's are in Connect & manage custom apps for Gemini Apps.
A first prompt to try
Once it is connected, start a new chat and send the prompt below. In the Gemini app, type @ and pick the custom app first, so Gemini uses it.
Set up a customer discovery interview for people who cancelled in the last month, then give me the public link.
Sign in, and remove access
Gemini asks for one permission, named tracy, and acts only on your own account. What that covers is on the privacy page. To cut Gemini off from Tracy at Qode, open your account, find Connected AI apps and revoke it.
In the Gemini app you can also open Settings > Connected Apps, find the app under Custom apps, click More details and choose Disconnect to revoke its permissions, or Remove app to delete it. In Gemini Enterprise - Business edition, select the MCP server in the connectors list and delete it. Stuck? Write to support.
